El Salvador--Embracing Our African Heritage 2

It was a great honour to be recognized as the first Government official from Nigeria to ever visit El Salvador. Being part of the Afro Descendientes events & festival in San Salvador & Zacatecoluca, El Salvador is something I will cherish all my life. Discovering a different reality and meaning of the African Diaspora will shape my engagements with them henceforth.

During my speech in the town center I spoke about the power they poses being freed from

slavery decades ago. They are now free to embrace their identity and fulfill their individual and collective Afro defendant destinies.

Zacatecoluca is very symbolic in the history of Afro Salvadorians as many of them are of African descent. Its also home to a statue that recognizes their African roots.

Special thanks to Mr Hugo Miller & History Professor Alfredo for organising this event, the Mayor of Zacatecoluca, Dr Francisco Iresi for the amazing hospitality. And to Gov Sanwoolu and Hon Chairman Abike Dabiri Erewa thank you very much for this great opportunity to represent NIDCOM, Nigeria & Lagos State.
