Project LOUD Sanwo-Olu ICT and Skill Acquisition Centre Gears Up for Sixth Edition, Targets 3,000 Beneficiaries
The Project LOUD Sanwo-Olu ICT and Skill Acquisition Centre has announced plans for its sixth intensive training program, aiming to equip 3,000 Lagos residents with essential vocational and ICT skills.
"All arrangements have been finalized for the two-month, all-expenses-paid training," confirmed Prince Kenny Bakare, the program's coordinator, in a statement. He emphasized that this initiative aligns perfectly with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's vision of creating a Lagos where every resident possesses the skills and confidence to thrive in today's dynamic economy.
Reflecting on the program's resounding success in 2024, which saw over 1,500 participants graduate, Bakare stated, "This year, we aim to double our impact by training 3,000 beneficiaries."
Participants will gain expertise in a diverse range of trades, including compulsory courses in tailoring, shoemaking, tie and dye, digital marketing, and photography. Other available courses encompass catering, baking, facials and massage, wig making, microblading, lash extension, makeup, and gele tying.
"The training is fully sponsored by the Lagos State Government, ensuring it remains free for all participants," Bakare clarified.
Upon successful completion, graduates will receive certificates and be equipped with relevant work tools to kick-start their careers. Furthermore, they will have access to low-interest loans through the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, providing crucial support for their entrepreneurial journeys.
Expressing confidence in the program's transformative potential, Bakare stated, "We believe this program will effectively combat unemployment and poverty by fostering self-reliance among participants."
He emphasized that the seed money and tools provided to trainees will empower them to launch their businesses immediately upon graduation, enabling them to thrive without the need to wait for employment opportunities.
The induction and graduation ceremony is scheduled for January 29, 2025. Physical registration and screening for pre-registered participants will take place on January 15 and 16, 2025, at 114 Western Avenue, Beside Qua Iboe Church, Barracks Under Bridge, Surulere, Lagos.
Bakare urged Lagosians, particularly the youth, to seize this valuable opportunity to unlock their potential, acquire in-demand skills, and contribute significantly to the state's economic growth.
