The Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, (LASUBEB), Mr. Wahab Alawiye-King, on Friday, led other stakeholders to some Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) to monitor the distribution of food items being given to Parents/Guardians under the Modified Home Grown School Feeding Programme.
Speaking during the exercise, the Chairman expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the officials saddled with the responsibility of distributing food items at the various centres, as well as the orderliness of the parents receiving the foodstuff for their households.
While describing the exercise as seamless in all the centres visited, Alawiye-King commended the level of personal hygiene practised, as well as social distancing observed by all concerned, from the presentation of the voucher to the pick-up of the take-home food ration by the parents.
He said, “I am glad that the security officers from the Nigeria Police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were at each centre to maintain peace and order, as well as ensure that the beneficiaries were screened with body infrared thermometer and sanitised before gaining entrance to the centre”.
Some of the centres visited by the Chairman of LASUBEB and the stakeholders included Saint Francis Primary School, Kosofe; Ikeja Primary School, GRA, Ikeja; and Bola Memorial Primary School, Mobolaji Bank-Anthony Way, Ikeja, among others.
Recall that the Federal Government Modified Home Grown School Feeding Programme for pupils in Primary 1-3 commenced officially in Lagos on Thursday.
