The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), has decentralised its operations by creating a 12-zonal offices spread across the three senatorial districts of the State to make its services accessible to the public as well as enhance service delivery.
General Manager of the Agency, Engr. Adebola Matanmi, who disclosed this at a stakeholder-meeting held recently with the zonal heads, coordinators and senior management staff of the Agency in Ikeja, charged the participants to be professional and remain good ambassadors of the administration while discharging their responsibilities.
He emphasised that the decentralisation was to improve the service delivery to Lagosians and ensure that residents across the State have easy access to the Agency’s services.
Matanmi, however, used the opportunity to solicit the cooperation of members of the public in carrying out its mandate of ensuring proper wastewater disposal culture in order to protect public health across the Lagos metropolis.
He, therefore, called on all Organisations, Commercial Premises, Estates, Eateries and others to ensure that their wastewater treatment system functions as required by standard regulations in order not to contravene the wastewater management law in Lagos.
He equally enjoined building owners/developers to obtain the necessary Wastewater Permits for their planned structures before proceeding with any construction, stressing that Lagos will not compromise public health, thus the need to show responsibility by adhering to the agency laws as it affects proper management and disposal of wastewater, among others.
The General Manager also declared that the Agency’s offices are open to the general public for inquiries, clarifications and complaints where necessary during the official working hours.
