Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering the Lekki International Airport and other game-changing infrastructural projects that will redefine the state's economic landscape.
During a visit to Alaro City, Sanwo-Olu announced that aviation regulators are set to arrive in Lagos next week for a site inspection and review, marking a significant milestone toward the airport’s construction.
"This project is not just about air travel; it’s about unlocking fresh investment opportunities and reinforcing Lagos as West Africa’s economic powerhouse," the governor stated.
Accompanied by top officials, Sanwo-Olu spent over two hours touring Alaro City and Universal One Development along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

He also inspected major companies thriving within the hub, including Ariel Foods, BUA, TY Danjuma Logistics Park, and Universal Homes, commending the rapid infrastructural progress in the region.
Beyond the airport, the governor revealed that preparations for the Green Line Rail Project, connecting Marina to Lekki, are well underway, with funding arrangements nearing completion.
"Alaro City is proof that when government and the private sector collaborate, the results are phenomenal. The Lekki Free Trade Zone, initiated under President Bola Tinubu when he was governor, has kept expanding, and we are committed to building on that legacy," Sanwo-Olu remarked.
With the Lekki Deep Sea Port, the six-lane Lekki-Epe Expressway, and the upcoming airport and rail projects, the governor urged investors—especially those in the diaspora—to seize the opportunities unfolding in this high-growth corridor.
Chairman of Alaro City, Ayo Gbeleyi, and Managing Director Yomi Ademola applauded the Lagos State Government for its visionary leadership and strategic investments, which have accelerated economic growth and created thousands of jobs for Lagosians.
For the Lagos diaspora, this is more than news—it’s a call to action. The future is being built, and now is the time to invest, return, and thrive in Africa’s most dynamic city.
