US President, Donald Trump announced that immigration to the US will be temporarily suspended to protect the jobs of Americans.
The president made this announcement via his Twitter account on Monday, stating that the decision was made in order to protect the jobs of American Citizens.
"In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States".
The immigration suspension has generated a lot of reactions online. He, however, didn't state how long the suspension would last for.
The announcement came after the White House insisted that the worst of the pandemic is over and the country can begin reopening.
Nearly 766,660 cases have been recorded in the United States, with more than 42,000 people killed by the coronavirus. 22 million Americans have lost their jobs due to the epidemic.
