Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, has charged the winners of the just concluded seven-day leadership training programme organised for youths in Alimosho and its environs to come together with ideas and recommendations that would contribute positively to the development of youths in their various domains and in Lagos State as a whole.
The Commissioner, who is also the Convener of the training programme tagged "Moremi Youth Development Programme" (MYDP '20), gave the charge, on Tuesday, at the closing ceremony of the week-long leadership training initiative for over 100 youths in Alimosho area of Lagos State.
She challenged the outstanding participants at the training to step out with confidence as a team to push boundaries and think outside-the-box, while also showcasing good leadership skills in the various localities they will be representing henceforth. Akinbile-Yusuf noted that the training programme had unleashed the hidden potentials and virtues of citizenship, patriotism and volunteerism in the youths of Alimosho, stressing that the underlying philosophy behind the leadership training was to groom the participants and harness their potentials for the overall development of the grassroots, Lagos State and Nigeria. Urging the youths to be good ambassadors in all their endeavours as they forge ahead to exhibit integrity and godly virtues in their communities respectively, the Commissioner stated that emerging as Ambassadors in their respective domains confers a certain responsibility on them like volunteering to render communal services to the Local Council Development Areas, seeking charitable donations for the less privileged, mentoring and imparting other youths through their skills among others.
Participants at the training were assessed based on their performance, which led to the emergence of the Overall Best Participant, Adelakun Babatunde, as the Moremi Youth Ambassador 2020, while other runners-up included Odusanya Tolulope, Titiloye David, Anosike Mary-Angela, Awotile Akeem, Uka Oluwaseun and Badamassi E. Pelumi. The Youth Ambassadors, who emerged as representatives of the six Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in the entire Alimosho Constituency, namely Alimosho, Agbado/Oke-Odo, Egbe/Idimu, Ikotun/Igando, Mosan/Okunola and Ayobo/Ipaja respectively, went home with N50,000 each, presented to them by the Convener, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf. The closing ceremony of the Moremi Youth Development Project 2020 was attended by several dignitaries including a Permanent Board Member of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), Mr. Dayo Israel, and Nollywood Celebrity, Mr. Adeniyi Johnson, among others.
